BSP Guide: Grimsby Town
Mariners have a great sense of humour; we`ve needed it in truth with our fishing and football league heritage being filleted from us for the time being. Many would be forgiven for turning their backs on the former Lincolnshire top dogs, now fallen from grace and indeed now the league itself after 100 years.

Cometh the hour cometh the Mariner, with money man Mike Parker now starting to plough 'something back` into a club and a community that he adores. It made him and now he will make the club with his millions it seems with a new ground also back on the table when league status necessitates.

He has certainly lessened the load on Chairman John Fenty as both heaped half a million apiece in this season, to allow Neil Woods the chance to build a squad. Woods understands the task and more so the heritage, it`s in every breath at training and installed in every player before they even sign or walk through the door. An Ocean of Optimism - three fish and a trawler on our shirts - and a captain who leads with that positive energy he breeds.

10 have been cast ashore as The Codfather casts the maritime shilling at a new crew. Up front Charlie Ademeno joins from Crawley for an undisclosed fee. Alan Connell and Michael Coulson are advanced schemers who scream goals.

The Codfather wants style as well as guile, hiring passing princes in the middle to return our smile. Michael Cummins from Rotherham, Rob Eagle who can play left as well as central, could fillet with their big toes although Lewis Gobern from MK Dons and Dwayne Samuels from WBA are wide boys of quality too. That said Peter Bore has the versatility and quality to give anyone a run for their money anywhere on the right.

And what of our case for the defence? King Kenny Arthur and his own brand of gloves take over between the sticks. Lee 'the Riddler` Ridley comes in at left back In the centre of defence we have three giants in Steven Watt, Scott Garner from Mansfield and the Blundell beast himself Darran Kempson.

Weigh the anchor me hearties let the voyage begin!
