Gateshead: Geordieland Expects

Gateshead: Geordieland Expects
Ian Bogie will aim to improve on 20th last time out. Make no bones about it there is some scope for optimism with the club turning professional this term and an 8,000 town centre ground in the offing including a 2,000 seater main stand. All four sides of the ground will be covered with the stadium used as a training centre should we win the world cup bid.

Chairman Graham Wood, the driving force behind the exciting developments at his hometown club, is confident Gateshead FC can rekindle former glories. The Tynesiders or The Heed were a league team up until 1959/60 and were a notable FA Cup side.

After losing Daryl Clare to Cambridge United for 10,000 and the fact he wished to stay part time, Bogie has picked up 5 new players. Nathan Fisher comes in from Chester-le-Street for 3,000 having bagged 44 goals in 49 Northern Football League Div 2 matches. Left back Paul Heckingbottom joins from Mansfield and York City midfielder Craig Nelthorpe is also in. David Brown and David Dowson have also joined on non-contract terms.
