Jones In Team Of The Week (11/4/17)

Jones In Team Of The Week (11/4/17)

Grimsby Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Sam Jones in the three one victory over Blackpool at the weekend at Bloomfield Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Jones was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Two goals for Jones helped Grimsby to an impressive 3-1 success away at Play-Off hopefuls Blackpool, taking his tally to six in his last eight outings. His first was a somewhat scrappy effort, but he displayed pace, strength and composure to coolly slot home the Mariners` third goal.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Jones for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Stuart Moore (Luton Town), Mark Hughes (Accrington Stanley), David Mirfin (Scunthorpe United), Ryan McLaughlin (Oldham Athletic), Tarique Fosu (Colchester United), Tom Owen-Evans (Newport County), Alex Pritchard (Norwich City), Gabriel Obertan (Wigan Athletic), Kemar Roofe (Leeds United), Tammy Abraham (Bristol City), Sam Jones (Grimsby Town).

Manager - Mark Warburton (Nottingham Forest).
